HRx Client Success Story
Lisa had just taken over the HR responsibilities for a counseling center. The person who had administered HR just left the organization and had been in the position for 20 years. It was now Lisas responsibility to master all that HR entails.
Lisa understood much of the HR administrative duties, but she wasnt sure that everything was in place the way it needed to be. So she called me to review their administrative practices to make sure she started her HR responsibilities on a solid foundation.
I sent Lisa a checklist of items to prepare for our meeting some of the items wed review together and others I would take back into my office to review. I had prepared a detailed questionnaire to explore each aspect of HR together. What did the organization do about _____? We covered everything from hire to fire, including personnel files, employment practices, performance management, etc.
We met for about three hours covering everything she prepared as well as my list of questions. Then the work really begins for me. I reviewed every document thoroughly, commenting on required changes to their employment application, employment ads, job descriptions, appraisals, employee handbook, etc. A typical audit report could be 25 pages long! As you know, HR isnt as simple as one thinks.
Lisa was thrilled with the opportunity to start her job with the core information to be successful! |
