Jean used to be this organizations star performer, but not only did her performance decline, she began to verbally abuse her employees. The business owner, Jack, demoted Jean when he heard of her behavior, but Jean made sure that she was the perfect employee whenever Jack was around. Jack really never saw what Jean was doing, but when several employees told him that theyd quit if things didnt change, he knew hed have to take action.
So Jack called me and we created our strategy. Knowing that unemployment looks for swift action related to policy violations, I knew we couldnt just terminate, Jean. We needed a defining event.
So, I conducted an investigation by telephone and interviewed the other employees. The information I discovered was so damaging, including blatant discrimination against employees and customers, we terminated Jean immediately at the conclusion of the investigation documenting all the way.
We had the information we needed to respond fully and appropriately to win Jeans inevitable unemployment claim. And even when Jean appealed, we had the documentation we needed so Jack could soar through the appeal hearing and solidify the win!
